Academic Shoot Reflection and Critique

1) The challenges I encountered while trying to get good pictures was how to get pictures of students without them messing around, being awkward, or not cooperating. 2) I found myself thinking of lines a lot because I noticed many lines as a background for my picture. I did this correctly by angling the camera so the subject is very noticeable, but so are the lines in the background. 3)If I could do this assignment again, I would go to more active classrooms, where kids were doing more action and movement. 4) Something I would do the same is the way I angled my camera for most of the pictures. 5) I think emotion will be easy to capture because re constantly expressing it. 6) I think faming will be hard to find because it is difficult to angle the camera an find a natural framing tool. 7) I am Stil not sure what mergers are, but I can go on the Mr.Reeves powerpoint and find out what it is. Academic Photos PhotoShop

Image
In this picture, the composition technique I used was: filling the frame. In each corner of the picture their is an important action going on. The subject of this picture is the students in the front. I could have made it clearer by just getting 1 table instead of many. In this picture, the composition technique I used was: lines. There are countless lines in this picture giving it a sense of unity and balance. The subject of this picture is the 2 boys working their assignments. The subject is obvious to the viewer. In this picture, the composition technique I used was: emotion. You can see how the subject is laughing and showing emotion. The subject is the group of students at the table. I think the subject could be clearer if i took it from an angle that the bright red pole didn't interfere.

Photo Manipulation and Ethics

Image
A) People use photoshop when wanting to alter their picture to make themselves look more attractive. B) Things like Washington Post and New York Times use photoshop to make their image  look more attractive. C) I think if you want to alter things that you don't want in the picture, just don't change the content that much.      I think that this picture was the most unethical. I think that because they want to change the way people look just to please society. They alter her features to make it look "more pretty" and that is why i think that this picture is the most unethical one.

Great Black and White Photographers: Part 2

Image
Great Black and White Photographers: Part 2 Eugene Atget Bio:          Eugene Atget was born in 1857 (with no specific date documented). He was born in Libourne. He started off as a young sailor, after that he switched jobs and tried to become an actor. When he failed at acting, at 40 years, he began the profession of photography after an experiment done with painting. Atget made a famous catalog through his profession, called "Fruits of French Culture." Atget's style of photography was very modern day, where the people in his time didn't take pictures like that. Gets death date was around 30 but do dates have been recorded. ^ uses rule of thirds                                                 ^ fills the page websites: http://www.atgetphotography.com/The-Photographers/Eugene-Atget.html http://www.metmuseum.org/...

Filling the frame

Image
Filling the Frame I chose this picture for "filling the frame" because there is something in every corner. The main focus in i the middle while bordering him he words that he is writing down.

Emotion

Image
Emotion I chose this picture for emotion because as you can see a lot is going on here. The lady n the red dress is expressing a lot of emotion, namely happiness, and so are the people around her.

The Story

Image
The Story I chose this picture to represent story because you really want to know whats going on. You want to know the story of what experiment they're doing. You also want to know how it will turn out at the end.

Post Shoot Reflection

While trying to take pictures of the 4 prompts, i encountered a few problems. First of all, I wanted to be very imaginative and creative, but with some simple ideas- like "square" it was hard. I also wasn't sure if I should take a picture of Bowie, r something that says Bowie, for the prompt- "Bowie." O there than that i think the pictures turned out good.      In general the most thing that I focused on while taking pictures was the way I was holding the camera. The angle that I held it changed the perspective, and the way it turned out greatly. When I took a picture of the lockers for metal, the way I angled it made so many more lockers come into view, than if I had just taken a picture ah eye level head on.      Now that I have learned some basic rules of photography, I would alter and add some more things next time. Mainly I would like to try to add "framing" while taking my pictures. None of my pictures had surroundings and it ...

Avoiding Mergers

Image
Avoiding Mergers After the Crash by: Tim Shaffer I chose this picture to represent avoiding mergers. The color of the peoples clothing are bright, while the background is dull and dusty. This also helps the viewer focus on where his/her eyes go to first- the brightly colored people.

Balance

Image
Balance Ground Zero by: Alex Fuchs I chose this picture to represent balance because the way thereon rods are split are very balanced. It gives the reader a sense of symmetry. It can also be applied to rule of thirds, because the images main idea is split into 3.

Simplicity

Image
Simplicity I chose this picture to represent simplicity. The photographer angled the camera so that the sky is mainly the only thing in the background. This helps focus more on the main image that the photographer wants to use, and not distract the viewer with background images.

Rule of thirds

Image
Rule of thirds Escaping New York by: Daniel Shaken I picked this picture for rule of thirds because something is happening in each section. You can see the pole in the middle dividing the two other sides. You can also see the contrast between the amount of people on either side.

Framing

Image
Framing  The presidents men by: FDNY VIA AP I chose this image for framing because I think it represents it very well. on the outsides- or the frames- there are fireman making border runs the picture. They are making a frame leading to the main picture in the middle.

Lines

Image
Lines  Falling man by:Richard Drew     After learning about composition techniques i found out that the picture i took of lines is good. my lines are all pointing in one direction. To go along with that, the falling man is following the came way the lines r going. That gives a sense of symmetry.
