Student of the Month freshman Maya Amador was recently selected by Bowie administrators to be named student of the month on march 6th because of her outstanding grades She takes all AP and Pre AP classes, and the majority of her grades are As. ''I worked as hard as I usually would to receive this award.'' Amadors goal was not to get a reward, but to work hard. huntington's story

Janice Jones is 53 years old and lives in Barstow, California, according to California Highway Patrol press liaison Tammy Rye. Rye said Jones was eating pork chops in the back of her motor home, which was parked on Beach Boulevard near Highway 1, when her dog knocked her 9 mm handgun off a seat. The weapon discharged when it hit the floor, and the bullet passed through Jones; leg and through the side of the vehicle, according to Rye. “It could have been worse,” Rye said. “The bullet hit two inches from the gas tank.” Jones was shot in the right leg around 10 p.m. Wednesday, Rye said. The dog seemed to be malnourished, according to Janet Ngo, one of the animal control officers, and had fresh cigarette burns on its forehead. “It could have done with a little less abuse and a few more of those pork chops,” Ngo said. First Day photos  1. The first photo I chose that I liked was of a place. I took a picture of the Bowie HS Library. I liked how the colors go together and how a purse pole is in the front of the picture.    The 2nd photo i chose to take a picture was of a person- Kallie. I like how the camera focuses on her, but there are things in the background which looks really cool. I also like how in the background all the colors go together. The last picture I chose was one I took of a thing. This picture is of the lockers. I really like tis picture because the angle i took it at looks really cool and shows a lot of the lockers, instead of just a few limited amount.
